PAUL BAILLY – VIOLIN 1888

Bailly started his studies with J Gaillard before moving on to work with N F Vuillaume, later moving to Paris to work for J B Vuillaume. Bailly appears to have a flexible approach to his output but his principal influence is certainly the finest violins coming out of Italy at that time and in to the J B Vuillaume establishment, namely Stradivari and del Gesu.
This violin modelled on Guarneri del Gesu bears its original label dated 1888, with Paris struck through and inked by hand, London. It is accompanied by a Bernard Millant certificate.
