David E Vernon established the business in Manchester during 1964. Vernon Violins has provided skilled and professional services to stringed instrumentalists throughout Manchester and Nationally. In 2017 we moved and relocated the core of the business to South Devon. We continue to provide restoration skills inspired by techniques developed in the workshops of W E Hill & Sons and J & A Beare Ltd., as well as studies of modern contemporary violin restoration techniques. The workshop is located in the stunning village of Slapton half a mile inland from Slapton Sands.

A positive aspect to moving to and opening a violin restoration workshop as part of our home in South Devon, will be the ability to work in a very more relaxed and focused environment. Moving away from the frenetic pressures of working 9 to 5 in a commercial workshop with all its distractions, will allow me to get back to the core business of fine violin restoration and dealing.
